Year 2008 Membership Rates

*******************************************************

On behalf of the Norwich Golf Course Authority I would like to thank you for your patronage this past golf season.  At this time I am pleased to provide you all with information regarding membership for the 2008 season.

The Authority along with Bruce Morse and John Paesani , have worked diligently to limit increases to expense budgets which should allow us to operate with no or minimal increases to our existing membership rates, while keeping the high standard of course conditions and services that we have all grown accustomed to expect.  This being said the attached page shows our rates for 2008.

We will be offering the same early payment discounts as last year, they are outlined below:

Early payment discount:

Method 1: Pay in 3 installments, 1st payment due no later than February 1st, 2nd payment due no later that April 1st, balance due no later than May 1st.

Method 2: Pay entire membership in full no later than March 15th

The Authority is once again hoping that the existing members will assist in helping to grow the current membership base.  With this in mind we will again be offering the following recruitment benefit:

New Member Recruitment Incentive:

2008 members who recruit a new member* to join in 2008 will receive an in-kind gift of a $100.00 gift card for fees at Norwich Golf Course (i.e. guest fees or golf car rentals).  The newly recruited member must list the recruiter on their membership application.

*New members are defined as a person who has not been a member during any of the past 3 years (’05, ’06 & ’07).

I would be remiss in not mentioning the passing of Bob Ford .  Bob served diligently as Authority chair for the past 10 years.  His leadership and guidance will be greatly missed.  Like Bob, I am always open to new ideas and suggestions that will make the Norwich Golf Course a place where people join and come to play to enjoy themselves. Feel free to stop me or any of the other Authority members to discuss your suggestions.

We will endeavor to continue to provide our patrons with the very best in playing conditions and a high level of customer service.  It is our hope that you will continue to support the Norwich Golf Course and that we all will have a successful and enjoyable 2008.

Very truly yours,

Barney Caulfield

Barney Caulfield ,

Chairman Norwich Golf Course Authority

*   -   In order to qualify for the lower rate the membership dues must be paid in one of the two following ways.

1.  Payment in full by March 15th 2008

2.  Three payments:  The first payment by February 1, 2008, the second by April 1, 2008, and the final payment by May 1, 2008   Missing a payment date eliminates the reduced rates and the higher rates then apply.

Notes:

1.  Membership starts from the date of payment and ends in the Spring when the golf course is officially opened (when the permanent greens are opened for the year..... usually mid March).  Membership is 'not' for 12 months from the date of payment and membership rates are 'not' prorated.

2.  Rental of golf carts is 'not' included in membership.

3.  Membership does not include maintenance of a handicap.  Handicaps are not required as part of membership, however, most tournaments require a valid handicap and you will not be allowed to play in many scheduled events without a handicap. An additional fee of $34 is charged for handicap maintenance.  Handicap cards are updated every two weeks in accordance with USGA rules.  The handicap chairman (elected by the membership) has the authority to revoke a member's handicap if they do not comply with rules for posting scores.

4.  Most member tournaments are on weekends.   Adult Economy memberships are restricted on weekend play.  They may play in the tournaments but would have to pay normal greens fees. (Junior and Senior memberships may play without additional fees).

5.  Note:  The Norwich Golf Course Authority reserves the right to schedule tournaments, competitions, events, and outings at various times throughout the year during which the use of the course may be limited to participants or otherwise restricted and for which additional fees are charged.  The Authority further reserves the right at all times to close the course or otherwise restrict the use of the course or portions of it for maintenance and upkeep or when in its judgment conditions require this.
